18-year-old charged as adult in deadly Anacostia shooting

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — D.C. police announced an 18-year-old is facing a murder charge for a deadly shooting that took place inside an apartment building in Anacostia last year.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said the shooting happened on Sept. 15, 2024, in the 2300 block of Marion Barry Avenue. Upon arrival, police located 36-year-old David Washington of Southeast, D.C., inside an apartment with a gunshot wound.

He died at the scene.
