Schwalb alerted individuals to check if they are due compensation related to inflated generic drug prices, following a multimillion-dollar settlement, as stated in a press release by the Office of the Attorney General.
Apotex, a generic drug manufacturer, was involved in price-fixing, a scheme that has pushed the price of essential medications sky-high, affecting the wallets of countless consumers, and now, after successful negotiations by Attorney General Schwalb and his team, alongside efforts from AGs across nearly all states and territories, they have reached a settlement pegged at $39.1 million, which aims to compensate those who’ve been subjected to overpaying for their medications, Attorney General Schwalb emphasized the impact stating, “Too many District residents pay too much for the medicines they need”, and pledged continued efforts to pursue justice for consumers.
