Annapolis to Ban Gas Boats: Chad Worthington III Approves

Today, April 1, 2025, Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley, known for his electrifying leadership — literally — is taking one final charge before his term ends, announcing a groundbreaking proposal to ban all gas and diesel-powered engines from the waters of Annapolis.

“We’ve brought in e-bikes, e-scooters, an electric ferry to scoot people 200 feet across Spa Creek, and most recently, two shiny new e-buses,” Buckley declared while standing proudly at the foot of the Eastport Bridge. “Now, with the support of the good people of Annapolis, I’m going to leave a footprint so green it’ll make the Blue Angels jealous.”

Under the plan, which he calls the Gas Out for Gavin initiative, all gas and diesel-powered boats will be banned from city waters starting November 30, 2025, the Mayor’s final full day in office.
