Police to Conduct Move Over and Speed Enforcement on Route 29

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) and partnering agencies will conduct a move over and speed enforcement detail along the Route 29 corridor on April 2, 2025, to ensure the safety of law enforcement, first responders, and stranded motorists by enforcing Maryland’s Move Over Law.

Per MCPD: “Ensuring the safety of law enforcement, first responders, and stranded motorists, the Montgomery County Department of Police – Traffic Operations Division and partnering agencies will conduct a move over and speed enforcement detail along the Route 29 corridor on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., officers will focus on speeding and failure to move over for stopped vehicles, particularly law enforcement officers conducting traffic enforcement. The goal is to ensure the safety of officers, emergency responders, and stranded motorists by reminding drivers of their legal responsibility to slow down and change lanes when approaching stopped vehicles with flashing lights…
