STORM ALERT: Severe storms may bring damaging winds, large hail to parts of DMV Thursday

WASHINGTON (7News) — The First Alert Weather Team is on Storm Alert for Thursday, ahead of an approaching area of low pressure that will bring the threat for isolated showers and thunderstorms — some of which could be strong to severe.

Temperatures will reach the upper 70s to lower 80s Thursday afternoon, due to an associated warm front. It will also become increasingly humid.

As the front lifts north, it will also be the focal point for showers and storms. The overall coverage of storms will be isolated in nature, meaning most areas will remain dry, especially south of Interstate 66.

The primary threat will be in central and northern Maryland, as some storms could produce damaging wind gusts and large hailstones up to the size of ping pong balls…
