The Metropolitan Police Department has reportedly arrested an individual in connection with a series of robberies that struck the Northeast area of the city. Authorities managed to apprehend a suspect last Tuesday night after a robbery attempt went awry, leading to swift police intervention.
According to a statement released by MPD, 28-year-old Adony Gebretsadik from McLean, VA, was arrested and faces charges including Attempt to Commit Robbery and Theft (Second Degree). Officers rapidly responded to a distress call from an establishment located at the 1600 block of New York Avenue, Northeast. Gebretsadik is accused of having declared he had a gun, assaulted an employee, and attempted to make off with property before being halted by responding officers.
This recent incident on Thursday, just past the stroke of 11:47 p.m., wasn’t the suspect’s first alleged involvement in local crime.
