45-year-old man arrested after 7-Eleven robbery in Montgomery County

GAITHERSBURG, Md. ( DC News Now ) — The Montgomery County Department of Police arrested a 45-year-old man in connection to a strong-arm robbery on Tuesday, police said.

Around 7:25 a.m., 5th District officers responded to the 7-Eleven near the 13000 block of Wisteria Drive in Germantown for the report of a suspicious situation. Upon arrival, store employees said a robbery occurred.

Upon investigation, it was revealed a man came into the store carrying a grocery bag before he walked behind the counter and began loading it with tobacco products. The suspect then pushed an employee who tried to intervene, leading to a physical altercation. Before fleeing, the suspect took a small amount of cash.

Later, around 4:15 p.m., 5th District officers arrested Michael Powers at a nearby bus stop and took him into custody. Powers was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is currently being held without bond…
