WASHINGTON — Metropolitan Police are increasing patrols near the Southwest Waterfront and Navy Yard neighborhoods after a large group of teens gathered and engaged in multiple fights Friday evening, prompting multiple arrests and heightened concern for public safety.
At approximately 7:21 p.m. on Friday First District officers responded to a report of a fight involving juveniles in the 500 block of Water Street, Southwest. Upon arrival, officers encountered a large crowd of teens gathered in the area. While no injuries were initially reported, the growing crowd led officers to maintain a visible presence and begin efforts to disperse the group.
