SILVER SPRING, Md. — Wheaton High School was briefly placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon after Montgomery County police received a report of a person with a gun near the campus. After investigating, authorities determined there was no credible threat and no weapon was found.
As a precaution, nearby Loiderman Middle School and Weller Road Elementary School also implemented shelter-in-place protocols while police responded.
In a social media update just after 2 p.m., the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) confirmed that officers were actively investigating the report. “Wheaton High School is on lockdown,” the post read. “Loiderman Middle School and Weller Road Elementary are sheltering in place following a report of a person with a gun near the campus.”…
