Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to multiple water rescue incidents across the county on Saturday, involving vehicles stranded in high water due to flash flooding.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, those incidents included:
- Occupied vehicle in high water near the Potomac Post Office (10300 Black River Rd, between Falls Rd and Chapel Rd)
- Single occupied vehicle stranded at Gainsborough Road and Powder Horn Drive (Potomac)
- Three occupied vehicles trapped in high water at Briggs Road and Layhill Road (Glenmont); all occupants safely removed, no injuries reported
- Vehicle stranded in high water at Randolph Road and Glenallan Avenue (Glenmont)
- Water rescue involving a single vehicle at Sligo Creek Parkway near Wayne Avenue (Silver Spring)
- Occupied vehicle in high water at Bradley Boulevard and Kentsdale Drive (Potomac); occupant safely removed as crews relocated due to deteriorating conditions
- Vehicle stranded in high water in the 9300block of Kendale Rd. near Farnsworth Drive (Potomac); one person removed, no injuries
According to Park Police, the entirety of Sligo Creek Parkway is closed down due to flooding. Residents are reminded to avoid driving through flooded roadways and to follow all emergency guidance during severe weather. We will provide an update if additional information becomes available.
