(NewsNation) — A 26-year-old man is in custody after he allegedly attempted to kidnap a toddler at a Virginia shopping mall.
According to the Fairfax County Police Department, a young girl was near a play area in the Fair Oaks Mall when a man picked her up and walked away. Police said the girl’s father was inside the play area with his other child and did not notice the girl walking away.
The man, later identified as Andres Caceres Jaldin, walked in the direction of a store where the girl’s mother was shopping, and when spotted, both parents followed him to the second floor of the mall where they confronted him. The girl was let go unharmed, and Caceres Jaldin then fled the mall.
