Man charged in deadly Laurel shooting

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A man is facing charges in connection with a July shooting in Laurel that left one man dead, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD).

According to police, James King IV, 48, is being held without bond as he faces first and second-degree murder charges for the death of 33-year-old William Denard Askew of Greenbelt.

Police say on July 25 at 10:20 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 13200 block of Laurel Bowie Road. There, Askew was found in the road, suffering from gunshot wounds, and was pronounced dead.
