Former police major raises questions about juvenile accountability after deadly crash

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (7News) — While the investigation into the deadly stolen car crash in Prince George’s County this week continues, a former police major told 7News he has raised concerns about the state’s juvenile justice laws and how they might slow down the investigation.

Shaunte Denise Canty, 35, was killed after a crash at the intersection of Sheriff Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Highway when a stolen vehicle ran a red light and struck her vehicle, officials said. Canty’s two-year-old child, who was inside the car at the time of the crash, survived.
