SE DC apartment residents still in filthy conditions despite more than $114,000 in fines

WASHINGTON (7News) — Depending on which side of a Southeast, D.C., apartment complex you’re standing on, one of two things will likely catch your eye: the shattered window to a basement unit up front or the trash buildup out back.

Evelyne Tolbert told 7News these filthy conditions at 3639 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE, have made her concerned for her health.

“[It] has been unsafe for me and everyone in the building,” Tolbert said. “I start coughing. I start wheezing more than when I’m not there.”…
