Police Apprehend Woman Wanted In July Northeast, D.C. Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Thursday, pursuant to a DC Superior Court warrant, a 26-year-old Bowie, Maryland, woman was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the shooting of a man that occurred in early July in Northeast, D.C.

According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Saturday, July 12, 2025, just minutes before 8:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District responded to reports of gunfire on the 3900 Block of 12th Street in Northeast, D.C.

Police Officers Find Man Suffering From A Gunshot Wound

Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered a man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The man was transported by D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital for treatment. The man has since been released and continues to recover at home.

Detectives Identify Maryland Woman As The Shooter

During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, based on the descriptions provided by witnesses and area surveillance video footage, were able to identify the shooter as Sapphire Johnson, 26, of Bowie, Maryland, and a warrant was issued for her arrest…
