Maryland Introduces New Online Platform for Residents to Claim Lost Property

Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman announced the launch of a new cloud-based unclaimed property system that allows residents to file claims online for the first time, replacing the state’s decades-old mainframe platform.

The updated system, known as the Kelmar Abandoned Property System (KAPS), aims to improve claim processing, transparency, and customer service while supporting recent law changes that expand the types of property the state can manage, including cryptocurrency.
