‘Known for his kindness’: Prince George’s County PD mourns loss of veteran officer

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — The Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) is mourning the loss of a sergeant, who dedicated more than two decades to serving the community.

On Wednesday, the department announced that Sergeant Benjamin Habershon passed away on Nov. 4.

Habershon was a cherished member of the agency who served with the police department for 24 years. He first joined the force in February 2001 with Session 95.

During his tenure, Habershon played a role in multiple assignments, including Landover, the Forensic Science Division, and recently with the agency’s new Real Time Crime Center. He earned numerous awards and citations, including the awards of merit and unit citations.

PGPD noted that Habershon was known for his kindness and his “amazing sense of humor.”…
