City of Bowie holds meeting to discuss ways to improve the town center shopping district

BOWIE, Md. (DC News Now) — In Prince George’s County, there are plans to boost business at the Bowie Town Center. Thursday night, residents spoke face-to-face with city officials about changes they want to see during a town hall meeting.

Bowie resident Karen Williamson says she was happy to see City leaders taking steps to potentially make improvements to the shopping area.

“I am very pleased the City of Bowie is taking an initiative and cares about the city should grow. I think they are doing their best, but I believe more participation is needed from our residents,” Williamson said.

This comes after the government shutdown hit businesses hard, with many small shops at Bowie Town Center struggling without their regular customers. Prince George’s County is home to roughly 70 thousand Government workers. The Bowie Town Center has served the community for 24 years…
