The Maryland Attorney General’s Office issued a Final Order against Korey Homes Building Group and its former owners after determining they violated the Consumer Protection Act by taking payments for home building services they did not provide and misusing consumer funds.
The order requires repayment to affected consumers, assesses civil penalties and costs, and restricts the company and its owners from future home building activity unless they meet strict bonding and compliance requirements.
Per the news release distributed on Monday, November 17: “Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced today that his Consumer Protection Division has obtained a Final Order against Korey Homes Building Group, LLC and Kenneth W. Smith and Korey Wayne Smith, a father and son who jointly owned the company until the father, Kenneth W. Smith, left the company.
