WASHINGTON (7News) — The Maryland Department of Health’s childhood vaccine schedule will continue the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines, as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that it is reducing the number of vaccines recommended for children.
The CDC will now advise that children receive 11 vaccines, down from the current 17. Dropped from the list include rotavirus, COVID-19, hepatitis A and B, meningitis, and the seasonal flu – which will only be recommended to “high-risk” children or with a health care provider’s waiver.
