Maryland woman accused of hitting Virginia officer during chase now faces car theft charge

SEAT PLEASANT, Md. (7News) — Days after allegedly ramming a Virginia State Police vehicle and leading authorities on a chase through multiple counties, a Maryland woman was charged for a separate incident in which Seat Pleasant Police say she crashed into multiple police cars with a stolen vehicle.

On Dec. 24, Seat Pleasant Police officers spotted a stolen vehicle in the 5700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Hwy. The driver, later identified as Naturi Michon Hayes, failed to comply with police orders and struck an unoccupied Seat Pleasant cruiser while fleeing. Per their pursuit policy, officers did not go after Hayes.

Five days later, on Dec. 29, around 11:40 p.m., Virginia State Police attempted to stop the same stolen vehicle. Hayes again attempted to flee, striking a Virginia State Police vehicle and ramming it into a wall, injuring a trooper. The pursuit continued into Maryland, crossing the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, where Hayes allegedly rammed the Virginia State Police vehicle again, causing it to hit a concrete barrier.
