Coming Soon Signage Up for Goodwill At Upcoming Montgomery County Location

Coming Soon signage is now up for a new Goodwill location in Rockville. Back in December, we reported that Goodwill was set to take over the space most recently occupied by Planet Aid at the Montrose Shopping Center, the longtime shopping center anchored by MOM’s Organic Market. The storefront, located at 5520 Randolph Road, is now clearly marked as an upcoming Goodwill.

The Planet Aid thrift store and donation center closed in September, ending its run at the Randolph Road location. At the time, a Planet Aid representative said the closure was part of a planned move and that the organization was actively searching for a nearby replacement site. No new location has been announced since the store shut down.

Goodwill’s move into the space expands its presence in the Rockville area. The nonprofit already operates another store just over a mile away on Boiling Brook Parkway, which a representative confirmed will remain open. While an official opening date has not been announced, the size of the Randolph Road storefront suggests it will likely function as both a retail store and donation center. No construction details or timeline have been released, but a 2026 opening appears very likely…
