A garbage truck fire forced crews to dump burning trash onto Route 50 in Virginia on Thursday morning to stop the flames from spreading further into the roadway, fire officials said.
Firefighters were called around 11:37 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, to westbound Route 50 near South Penderbrook Drive, where a garbage truck caught fire while traveling through the area, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.
