Eastern Shore woman is Maryland’s newest lottery millionaire

BALTIMORE, MD—A scratch-off enthusiast from Maryland’s Eastern Shore has officially claimed a life-changing $1 million top prize, ending a four-month wait to collect her winnings. The Kent County resident visited Maryland Lottery headquarters on February 13, 2026, to process the windfall she first discovered last autumn.

A Lucky Stop in Chestertown

The winner’s journey to the jackpot began in October 2025 during a routine commute home from work. She stopped at the High’s store located in Chestertown and decided to purchase a single $20 All About Cash scratch-off because the ticket “looked good that day.” She bought the lucky ticket at the High’s store at 887 Washington Avenue

Upon returning to her car to play the game, she followed her personal tradition of scratching the ticket from the bottom up.

“I thought I was hallucinating when I wasn’t even halfway up the ticket when I saw I matched and then all of those zeroes!” the winner told Lottery officials.
