SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – A free public presentation on property taxes, city growth, and long-term fiscal health will be taking place on Sunday, June 15, at 4 p.m. at the downtown Sioux Falls library.
According to a news release, Norm Van Eeden Petersman, Director of Membership at Strong Towns National will host the public talk “Prosperity and Property Taxes” which aims to challenge attendees to think differently about property taxes, growth, and what creates lasting wealth in a community like Sioux Falls.
Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how development patterns impact the city’s financial health, why some neighborhoods produce more long-term value than others, and what it takes to build a place that can endure through change and uncertainty, the release said.
“Sioux Falls is growing fast. New development is happening everywhere, investment is pouring in, and the city is attracting people and businesses from across the region. But growth alone doesn’t guarantee long-term prosperity. The real question is this: are we building a city that will remain financially resilient and strong for generations, or are we creating long-term obligations that future residents will struggle to maintain?” the news release said…
