Residents across eastern South Dakota, southwest Minnesota, and northwest Iowa should stay alert tonight as the threat of severe weather continues to increase.
The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has expanded the Level 3 of 5 (Enhanced) Risk area farther south, now covering much of the region from Vermillion to Sioux Falls and extending into southwest Minnesota.
The primary concern during the early evening hours will be large hail, with some storms capable of producing hailstones 2 inches in diameter or larger.
