Feds: Charges to be filed for McKenna Wendel’s disappearance, death

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa announced on Wednesday, June 17, that charges have been filed in the case of a missing Sioux Falls child who was found dead near Brookings, South Dakota, three months ago.

A press conference to announce as such will be held the morning of Thursday, June 18, in Sioux City, Iowa.

In a statewide media advisory, U.S. States Attorney Leif Olson said he will be joined by Ron Parsons, U.S. Attorney for the District of South Dakota; Sioux Falls Police Chief Jon Thum; and Mike Hockett, special agent in charge of the S.D. Division of Criminal Investigation, to announce formal charges related to the death of 14-year-old McKenna Wendel, who was found deceased near a creek bed on March 19…
