Cumings to plead guilty to tax, gun charges

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A man who owned Mitchell Roofing & Siding has agreed to enter guilty pleas to two federal charges.

According to court papers, Cory Cumings will plead guilty to possession of a firearm by someone who was convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term greater than one year. Cumings acknowledges in court papers that he was convicted of marijuana possession in 2024.

The court documents also say Cumings will plead guilty to attempting to evade or defeat tax. He admits in court papers that he sold a boat in someone else’s name to avoid paying federal tax debt. Cumings says in court papers that he owned the boat.

Documentation with the South Dakota Secretary of State’s office says Mitchell Roofing & Siding, LLC was dissolved. A filing on the secretary’s website says the business become delinquent because of unfiled annual reporting…
