Grant Boes and Jordan Merritt bought Phil’s Pub in 2024 with what then was an unfocused but determined effort to breathe life back into a place that had secured a committed following over the past four decades.
In the days since, they have charted out a path using the bar’s history as a guide.
More than 40 different bands have appeared over the past year, with more highlights on the way. This includes an appearance by Soleil Bashale Friday that will serve as a fundraiser in support of The 10:15 Project. Led by Terry Vandrovec and titled “Terry’s Sendoff Soirée,” the event will raise money for people impacted by pregnancy and infant loss.
So how did Phil’s used to be? Sports and opportunities to see live music on a regular basis were how the place carved out a local identity. Less unique but just as vital was access to reasonably priced cold beer, darts, pool and video lottery machines…
