Cougars split on final day of Kelly Laas Memorial Tournament

ST. CLOUD, MINN. (USF) — Sioux Falls Softball closed out the final day of the Kelly Laas Memorial Tournament with another split on the day. The Cougars dominated game one, 9-1, over the Beavers of Bemidji State before falling in a close 3-1 rematch against the Northern State Wolves.

GAME 1 – BEMIDJI STATE

Maddi Duncan collected her second win of the season with a 5.0 inning, three strikeout appearance. Duncan faced just 20 batters while giving up just one run and no walks. With 18 innings pitched on the weekend, Duncan recorded 16 strikeouts while maintaining a 1.94 ERA.

Freshman Riley Schwisow made a statement in game one going 4-for-4 at the plate with two hits, a double in the second and a two-run homerun in the third. Megan Lawson and Meghan Jochimsen followed suit with two hits apiece while Rylee Riesberg also recorded a doubled for USF.

Schwisow, Joschimsen and Emma Barta recorded the three stolen bases for the Coo.

USF put up 12 hits and 9 runs against the Beavers while giving up 5 hits and just 1 run.
