The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls predicts slight chances of rain, snow and colder temperatures to return, starting Wednesday and continuing through the rest of the week.
After witnessing warmer temperatures, sunny atmospheres and dry skies with no rain or snow for the past couple of weeks after the snow storm and cold front early January, NWS meteorologist Jeff Chapman says “typical wintery” weather is expected to return this week.
“Our first chance of precipitation will begin later tomorrow morning and early afternoon in the form of a little light rain and snow mix,” said Chapman. “As we go through the afternoon and especially the evening hours, we will see a change over to snow that will be accumulating around the Sioux Falls areas, especially the areas north of Interstate 90.”
According to the NWS website, the Sioux Falls area is expected to see temperatures gradually drop as the week progresses after Wednesday, with an average of about 30°F during the days and 15°F during the nights. In the next coming days, the highest temperatures will be 39°F during the day, and the lowest being 9°F during the night.
