Sioux Falls police arrest man tied to Thursday morning stabbing

The Sioux Falls Police Department responded to a call about a stabbing at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday in the 1400 block of North Main Avenue.

Department spokesperson Sam Clemens said three individuals broke into a home for reasons yet unknown. A fight ensued inside the house and the suspects fled the scene.

When the suspects were some distance from the home, Clemens said there seemed to have been another altercation where a person was then stabbed four or five times.

The victim’s injuries were described as non-life threatening and he was taken to an area hospital, where authorities were first made aware of the incident.

A 20-year-old Sioux Falls man was charged and arrested with one count of aggravated assault. A court date has yet to be set.

The Argus Leader is not naming the man charged because this case is not one the outlet would follow through trial at this time.

Clemens said police are still investigating both the burglaries and stabbing incident and whether the suspects and victim knew each other.
