Friends, family mourn Milana Reeves: ‘It’s just hard to explain, but she was everything.’

Dozens of people, almost all wearing green, gathered Friday afternoon at a memorial visitation for Milana Reeves, one of two Sioux Falls teenagers killed in a car crash April 27.

Reeves, 15, died along with 15-year-old Eric Hopkins in the crash when a Dodge Durango lost control and crashed into a house and a tree in Sioux Falls. The crash also led to serious injuries for five of another six in the vehicle.

“She was my best friend,” said Savannah Reid, who wore a shirt reading, “Long Live Milana Marie.”

“She was funny, she was kind, she was … she was a lot of different things,” Reid said. “I don’t really know how to explain it. She brought smiles to everybody’s faces, she brought light to so many different people.”

Next to her, Christine Mulenda agreed about Milana, who many called “MiMi.”

“Milana was a ‘You do it, I do it’ type of person to me. She had this type of vibe where we just matched each other’s ideas and stuff like that,” Mulenda said. “She was just a kindhearted person. She was everything. It’s just hard to explain but she was everything.”
