The Jasper City Council plans to consider adopting a 12 to 15 percent preliminary property tax levy increase at its Sept. 10 meeting with the intent of reducing that amount before adopting the final 2025 property tax levy in December. City Clerk/Treasurer Trinidad Garcia suggested during a special council meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 27 that the council set the preliminary amount somewhere in that range as a place holder while budget work continues.
