Inclusive playground hopefully coming to Sertoma Park

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) —Two-year-old Evelyn Kayser was born with spina bifida. Because of this, her wheelchair is her primary mode of transportation. That means going places, like the park, can be difficult.

“We have to be pretty creative. It requires a lot of parent involvement and getting her out of her chair. It’s really hard for her to get through parks that have wood chips. So we have to make sure we try to avoid those with her,” Evelyn’s mom, Abby Kayser said.

Because of stories like Evelyn’s, the Sioux Falls Noon Sertoma Club is raising funds for an inclusive playground at Sertoma Park.

“We just thought it was time to upgrade it. And, you know, so we want to add an all inclusive area. It’s about 10,000ft² of space for people of all abilities,” Sioux Falls Noon Sertoma Club, Scott Newman said…
