SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Throughout the process of choosing a prison location, many people, companies and even entire cities spoke out against the idea. But that’s not the case at Gage Brothers in Sioux Falls.
“On the topic of the sites being close to our company, there’s absolutely zero problem with that. You know, we’re in a heavily industrial area. It does not have anything to do with the residential property values,” said Steve Schwartz, vice president of sales and marketing at Gage Brothers. “And frankly, this would be optimal being located near the interstates, wide open spaces, utility ready.”

On top of seeing the location as an ideal place for a prison, Gage Brothers also sees it as a business opportunity. They were involved with the beginning process of designing a new prison. As for the rest of the project, there are no construction contracts signed yet. If the company were to be chosen, Gage Brothers president Joe Bunkers says their proximity to the site would be ideal.
