Suspect fired ‘half a dozen’ times at officers Monday

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Authorities have identified the man who was shot by police Monday night as 23-year-old Deondre Black Hawk.

He was wanted on three felony warrants involving drugs and a burglary. Police said he was also believed to be a suspect in a Sunday shooting.

Officers were trying to serve an arrest warrant in a neighborhood near 10th Street and South Garfield Avenue. When police approached Deondre Black Hawk, Attorney General Marty Jackley says Black Hawk ran from them while firing a gun.

“He had fired about a half dozen times at law enforcement,” Jackley said. “We have recovered shell casings on the scene.”…
