Sioux Falls Drivers Brace For Major Traffic Changes This Week

If you travel the interstates in the Sioux Falls area, get ready for two new challenges this week.

Traffic Switch on I-29

According to the South Dakota Department of Transportation, starting Thursday (July 10), a traffic switch is scheduled on southbound Interstate 29 on the bridge over Skunk Creek in Sioux Falls. Traffic will be placed in the two easternmost lanes to allow for crews to complete work in the two westernmost lanes.

This traffic configuration will be in effect until August 15, at which time, traffic will be restored to its traditional configuration.

The overall $7.4 million project is expected to be finished by October 17

Bridge Work on I-90

Also, Thursday of this week, work will begin on the Interstate 90 westbound structure over Interstate 29. Traffic control will be put into place to allow for a two-way traffic configuration on eastbound I-90 utilizing crossovers…
