Sioux Falls, South Dakota – Severe thunderstorms are expected to rumble across southeast South Dakota Thursday evening, with the most intense activity likely south of Highway 18 between 5 and 11 p.m. Large hail and damaging winds are the main threats, especially near the Iowa and Nebraska borders.
According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, clusters of strong storms will form over northeastern Nebraska this afternoon and move into northwestern Iowa and southeastern South Dakota by evening. A Level 2 (Slight Risk) warning is in effect for areas including Yankton, Vermillion, and parts of Union County.
