SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Four of the top 25 teams in Division I college volleyball are in Sioux Falls for the AVCA First Serve Showcase at the Sanford Pentagon Monday night.
The doubleheader begins at 5:30 as reigning national champion Penn State, who is ranked No. 2 in the country, takes on 14th-ranked Kansas. Then at 7:30, 11th-ranked Minnesota battles No. 9 Texas A&M. The event also featured games in Lincoln, Neb., this weekend, all with the mission of helping to grow the game of volleyball here in the Midwest.
“This is a new area for us,” Penn State head coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley said. “I know volleyball has really grown here in the last couple of years. And we can show some young girls what we do and encourage them to keep playing.”…
