15 SD counties to hold sobriety checkpoints in Sept.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – The South Dakota Highway Patrol announced that they’ll be conducting sobriety checkpoints in 15 counties in September.

According to a press release from the Department of Public Safety, the checkpoints will take place in Bennet, Brookings, Charles Mix, Clay, Codington, Hutchinson, Jackson, Jerauld, Lincoln, Meade, Minnehaha, Pennington, Roberts, Spink, and Walworth counties.

The SD Highway Patrol and local law enforcement will conduct the checks, and are designed to encourage people not to drink and drive.

Officials are reminding people not to drink and drive–whether or not there’s a sobriety checkpoint, and to find a sober driver or take an alternate form of public/commercial transportation…
