Sioux Falls, SD Weather: Thunderstorms Likely Tonight and Into Monday Evening

Sioux Falls, S.D. – Showers and thunderstorms will push across South Dakota through the Labor Day holiday, bringing a risk of heavy rainfall and dangerous lightning for travelers and outdoor plans. Some storms could develop into strong cells late Saturday and continue in waves through Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, the greatest rainfall chances will hit Sunday afternoon into Labor Day, with a 40 to 50 percent chance of storms nearly each day. Severe weather is not expected to be widespread, but forecasters warn a few weak funnel clouds could form in developing storms.

The unsettled stretch will impact central and eastern South Dakota the most, with scattered thunderstorms also reaching into northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota.
