South Dakota Weather: Showers and Thunderstorms Continue Through Tuesday, Cooler by Midweek

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Periodic showers and thunderstorms will linger across South Dakota through Tuesday, bringing the potential for heavy downpours and occasional lightning before a much cooler pattern settles in midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, while severe weather is not expected, isolated storms could still produce bursts of heavy rainfall and lightning. Rain chances will remain scattered across the tri-state region, impacting eastern South Dakota, northwest Iowa, and southwest Minnesota.

Sioux Falls could see showers both Monday and Tuesday with temperatures holding near 70 to 80 degrees before falling sharply by Wednesday. Mitchell, Brookings, and Yankton will also see periods of wet weather, while roads in rural areas may become slick during heavier rainfall.
