SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The 3rd annual Latino Festival and Parade has been canceled due to increased concerns with ICE and Operation Prairie Thunder.

The South Dakota Hispanic Chamber of Commerce said the decision comes from the growing anti-immigrant sentiment and Gov. Larry Rhoden’s decision to partner with ICE in targeting immigrant communities in Sioux Falls and around the state.
“We believe this is a necessary step to protect our community members, while also continuing to stand for dignity, safety, and belonging,” a social media post from the chamber said.
