Sioux Falls will help homeowners replace dead trees killed by the Emerald Ash Borer

Sioux Falls property owners are facing major expenses for the removal of trees being killed by the Emerald Ash Borer but there is some relief in sight. City officials have announced the CommuniTree Program. A five-year three-million-dollar grant from the USDA to plant over 25-hundred new trees in the public right-of-way. When it comes time to replant, Urban Forestry Specialist Brian Peterson is working to make sure we don’t repeat the mistake made decades ago during the Dutch Elm Disease outbreak…The CommuniTree program will provide trees and care for the new trees for the first year after they’re planted. Qualified property owners will be contacted by the city…
