Parkston is number one in Levitt grant competition

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Parkston entered a competition for a Levitt Music grant, the same organization that helped fund the Levitt venue in Sioux Falls. A hundred cities are vying for a handful of grants, and “so far,” Parkston is in the lead.

During the summer, Parkston has what it calls Amphithursdays: every Thursday, the amphitheater at the park in Parkston is filled with music. The Parkston Commercial Club raised money to build the amphitheater and now funds the bands. A Levitt grant would give them $28,000 a year for 3 years. Parkston is competing against much larger cities.
