SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Parkston did it! In a nationwide competition that began with 300 cities around the country, Parkston garnered the most votes. The top spot should land them a Levitt Music grant worth $84,000. The town beat out hundreds of much larger cities, including Chicago, Illinois, and Wichita, Kansas.
Momentum starting to shift in House on new prison
Every Thursday during the summer, the city park in Parkston is full of music and people for AmphiThursdays. While local bands will continue to fill the stage, organizers also want the opportunity to bring in a wider variety of regional and national entertainment. So they went after a smaller grant from the same organization that helped fund the Levitt concert series in Sioux Falls. Bill Maxwell is president of the Parkston Commercial Club.
“Thanks to everybody that voted and took the time to pull their phone out and send that text,” said Maxwell.
