Talking money with Sioux Falls consumers

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – In the August financial report for the City of Sioux Falls, the consumer-driven industries like restaurants and retail were lagging behind a bit.

Last week on KELOLAND News, the City Finance Director told us consumer sentiment numbers were low and consistent to what they saw in 2008. We wanted to check in with people in downtown Sioux Falls to see how they are feeling.

When it comes to spending money these days, there seems to be a mixed bag of feelings amongst people.

“I mean, nothings really changed that much for me,” Doug Hoffman from Sioux Falls said. “I got my mortgage long ago when rates were low and cars are paid for. You know, groceries are up a little bit but all told things are pretty good as far as I’m concerned.”…
