All seven Kum & Go gas stations in Sioux Falls are under new ownership.
Utah-based Maverik — Adventure’s First Stop sold four of the locations to Iowa-based Casey’s General Stores Inc. and three to Omaha-based Mega Saver.
Casey’s has taken over the Kum & Go stores at 1400 N. Minnesota Ave., 1400 N. Cliff Ave., 412 N. Sycamore Ave. and 1005 W. 11th St. The stores have been closed since earlier this week while the company resets and rebrands them. Cliff and Sycamore will reopen Friday, while the other two will reopen Saturday, a worker said.
Today, Casey’s closed its location on Rice Street because the smaller, older store is only a few blocks away from the one it’s taking over on Cliff Avenue.
For Mega Saver, the Sioux Falls stores are the first expansion into South Dakota. The company was founded in 2002 and has about 40 stores in the Omaha area, a dozen in the Des Moines area and two in Florida.
The company bought the stores at 6001 S. Western Ave., 7100 W. 41st St. and 501 N. Minnesota Ave. While new exterior signs haven’t been installed yet, the stores are operating as Mega Saver.
Maverik has owned the Kum & Go chain since 2023, buying it from the family-owned Krause Group of Iowa. The deal included more than 400 locations in 13 states, doubling the size of Maverik. It began a rebranding process late last year…
