16 SD counties to hold sobriety checkpoints in October

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The South Dakota Highway Patrol has announced they will conduct sobriety checkpoints in 16 counties in September.

DOC: Multiple inmates involved in ‘altercation’

In a news release from the Department of Public Safety, the checkpoints will be in Brown, Brule, Clay, Codington, Davison, Day, Edmunds, Jones, Lake, Lawrence, Meade, Minnehaha, Pennington, Sanborn, Stanley and Yankton counties.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol and law enforcement are conducting the checks, which are designed to encourage people not to drink and drive. They also encourage drivers not to drink and drive, even if a check is not being conducted in their county.
